The Dominix

The Dominix, or as it is sometimes affectionately called “the whale” is the main gallente battleship. It is very versatile for its class, arguably second to the typhoon. It is generally best used as a afk mission ship. It will, with the proper skills handle a whole room’s dps while your drones get to work. While fitted with blasters with the drones it will dish out a reasonable amount of dps, but I think the ship is best used as a utility ship. I currently have an alt in a Dominix which tanks my missions and salvages. With the drone skills fairly high along with the salvage, I make so much more isk in a shorter amount of time.

The run of the mill fitting for a mission Dominix is as follows;

High slots

1 x 350mm compressed coil gun, L large charges (for getting agro)

2 x small tractor beams

2 x salvagers

1 x drone link augmentor

Medium slots;

5 x Cap Recharger II

1 x Afterburner 100mn (or another cap recharger if needed)

Low slots;

2 x LAR (Large armour repariers)

1 x DCU

4 x mission specific hardners

Rigs;

3 x Capacitor Control Circuit I

I currently use this kind of setup as an alt. I have 3 salvagers and 3 tractor beams in the High slots. This lets me fit my mission ship for pure dps, and with the extra drones I can make a good amount of isk from missions.

Another good way to fit the Domi is with all neuts in the high slots. This requires very good drone skills, since you are relying on drones for all your dps, but pretty much anything you catch can be taken down. Once its webbed, scrammed and neuted, you can pick your drones of choice depending on what unlucky enough not to get away.

As a ultility ship, the Dominix stands out for me. I had a hard time choosing between a typhoon and a dominix, but since I cant outpace my salvaging, the 10% bonus to the drones is much more benefitial to me then an extra slot just for another tractor beam.
